Var sa god

I hear this phrase frequently in Sweden. "Var sa god"; you are welcome. It can be in response to a "tak!" but more frequently as an invitation, perhaps to eat as we are doing heartily here. Mainly though it is a heartfelt statement of welcome. I feel very welcome.

Our day started with Elin and Frida knocking on our door and delivering a bouquet of wild flowers. Var sa god! Frida is back in the trees already!

Sunday we visited Ils Gunnar and Margarita, cousins of my dad's side of the family. It was surprising to see the newspaper from the Wright County Press and a photo of the Marysville church near Waverly, MN. There were new connections made and much time laughing and telling stories. And good food, of course. Var sa god!

We visited a chapel for an afternoon service and giggled as we tried to sing along in the songbook with the accordion and guitar. It was a nice service and was followed by coffee and cookies. We know where that Lutheran tradition came from.

At lunch this gentleman stopped to chat. He had also been to Minnesota and had stories to tell.

Dinner was at Karin's house with the family including her two daughter inlaws and grandchildren. It was delicious and we continued the stories and fun. Var sa good!

I'm using the Internet at Magnus and Karin's home, Mat's son and his wife. Judy and I walked down the road after returning to Skype home and ended up staying for a glass of wine on the deck until after 11:00. It is easy to lose track of time as the sun was just going down. Var sa god!

I think I slept too much that first day so I was up until about 2:00 am. Yes, it was still light at that time. I will add some photos before I end as I listen to the rooster crow nearby.
